I don't know about you, but I could eat ice cream for every single meal of the day. That being said, I am one of the many people alive that anything dairy never makes me feel on top of my game. In fact, about 75% of the world's population has an intolerance to lactose, whether it is extreme or just a bit. Now, I know it's a bit of an oxy moron that my dad is a health coach and started a fitness center and here I am blabbing about my obsession for ice cream, but as he would say "anything is fine in moderation."
Ben & Jerry's has kind of a sentimental tie to me personally as well. I have many memories in high school of sharing a pint with my best friends whether it is a celebration, a lazy night in, or a sympathy snack. In fact, it was kind of our "girl code" that when a break up happened, you show up on their door step with two spoons, Ben & Jerry's, and a big hug.
So when I heard that Ben & Jerry's was making a dairy free option, I immediately screenshot the PSA and texted it to all my friends that are victoms to the intolerance of lactose. If you look in my and my roommates fridge, you will find soy milk, almond milk, and sometimes coconut milk. I cook with almond milk, bake with it, and use it in cereal and smoothies. Therefore, I am used to the taste. (Sorry Grandpa Davelaar. I know you own County Edge Dairy, and that milk is good for strong bones. I will consume milk in other varieties.)
Here is my review on the peanut butter and cookies non dairy Ben & Jerry's newly released ice cream. There were huge oreo chunks, as well as peanut butter through out the entire pint. If you love the classic movie The Parent Trap where the newly reunited twin sisters bond over peanut butter and oreos, you will indeed love this "nice cream." I am a chocoholic, and will never choose vanilla over chocolate ice cream if I can help it. This ice cream was not too rich since it was made from almond milk, and I could barely tell that it was vanilla ice cream because the oreos and peanut butter were so amazing. It also didn't leave me feeling like a boa constrictor after eating a gazelle.
This was an extremely long post about ice cream, I guess it is out there now how much I am obsessed with ice cream. That being said, feel free to send me any flavors you would like me to taste test before you try.
